When you stay at Apollofirst Boutique Hotel, you will be staying in one of the most elegant neighbourhoods in Amsterdam. How about the Museumplein or stately streets? We are happy to tell you more about our lovely neighbourhood, what you should not miss and some of our great tips.
From the hotel, it is approximately an eight-minute walk to Museumplein, a square where culture and Amsterdam city life meet.
On one side lies the stately Rijksmuseum. The building itself is worth a visit: brick, towers and a passageway where cyclists ride under every day. Inside, you will find the big names in Dutch art history, as well as surprisingly strong temporary exhibitions.
Right next door is the Van Gogh Museum. Here you can see not only his famous works, but also the development of Van Gogh as an artist. The museum tells the story and is clearly laid out, so a visit never feels overwhelming.
Across the street, in a monumental villa, you will find the Moco Museum. This museum focuses on modern and street art with names such as Banksy, Basquiat and changing international exhibitions. Smaller in scale, more stimulating and often somewhat more playful in tone. A real addition for every art lover that you might not immediately think of.
